West Michigan woman first in world to get life-saving heart device

Mary Bostwick, a 54-year-old woman from Hersey, with severe heart failure who was unfit for
heart-lung transplant was terminally ill with long term hospitalization. We invented a device
which successfully treated her making recovery to tranplantation and alive now.
The device is now know as Atrial Flow Regulator (AFR) licensed for use in Europe
awaiting FDI approval. It is currently marketed by Occlutech Pvt Ltd and valued above 75
million dollars.
